Happy Birthday, Lily!

I can't believe my sweet baby girl is 1 today. This year has gone by way too fast! It amazes me how much babies change in just one year. Lily is walking, saying a few simple words and has such a big personality for one so little! Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Bad Blogger...

I sorely need to catch up on the blog and get pictures up, but it seems like every time I sit down at the computer I am consumed by other chores. We are all doing very well and have a had a busy fall. Joshua's soccer schedule takes most of the blame for the crazy schedule. It seems like a LOT of soccer for 3-4 year old kids. We have a skills night once a week, practice once a week and 1-2 games a week....UGH! All of this while carting around a not too cooperative baby who is usually hungry since everything seems to start at 5:30 or 6:00. I am SO glad that our last game is this Saturday. All in all Joshua has enjoyed the soccer experience. He's not an aggressive player so he doesn't get the ball much but that boy LOVES to run and is just happy to be out on the field. He has also taken a deeper interest in baseball since the Rangers made it to the World Series (or as he called it "the World Serious"). He and Eric spend most evenings in the backyard throwing and hitting the ball. Maybe T-ball will go better the second time around?

Miss Lily is getting too big too fast. She has taken a few steps here and there but isn't really ready to let go and walk on her own for any length of time. She loves to hold one of my hands and walk next to me. I think we've walked miles in circles around our house over the past couple of months! She can also shimmy up the stairs faster than the dogs and takes great delight in doing so if Joshua happens to leave the bottom stair gate open. I think she just likes to hear mommy and daddy gasp and race up to get her. She giggles at us from her perch on the top landing. Little stinker indeed! I cannot believe her first birthday is just around the corner. I ordered her invitations and party gear today. We are going ladybug themed since we call her our LilyBug all the time. I'm hoping as she gets older that we can celebrate her unbirthday in June. Having her birthday right on top of Christmas is a little daunting. I feel like I'm buying too many things and can't decide what to give her for which occasion!

Halloween was a big hit in our house this year. I wasn't sure how Lily would respond to all the costumes and Trick or Treating, but she loved every minute of it. She even left the tiara of her costume on for most of the evening! Joshua was Buzz Lightyear again and Lily was Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). We pulled Lily around in the wagon and she was happy to ride and point at all the other costumed kids running around. We also had Lily's baby dedication at church on Halloween so we had Grandma and Grandpa Robinson in town for all the fun. All in all it was a fun, sugar filled weekend.

LONG overdue update

I can't believe I haven't updated the blog since our anniversary back in June. This summer was crazy busy and I just never got a chance to sit down and write. I will have to post pictures later since my server seems to be having problems with loading pics at the moment! So...where to start?!?!?

I guess we'll start most recent and work back from there. Joshua turned 4 on Tuesday! I cannot believe my little man is 4 years old. Didn't I just bring him home from the hospital yesterday? We haven't gone for his check up yet so I don't have the most current stats on height and weight. Last time he was weighed he was almost 40 pounds and about 43 inches tall. Long and skinny! I have had numerous people ask me how he's liking kindergarten over the past few weeks and they are shocked to learn his age. He has started the Pre-K program at his preschool but will have to do Pre-K for two years due to the cut off for Kindergarten. We are also playing soccer this fall and he loves it so far. It's going MUCH better than t-ball ever did! We haven't had our first game yet, but he loves practice and the skills clinics that we've gone to. We got Joshua a big bike for his birthday and then it promptly flooded so he is dying to get out and ride. He didn't understand why we didn't want him to go out and pedal around in the lake that was our cul-de-sac! Over all, he is still an active, fun-loving, sweet little guy. He's got a goofy personality and cracks me up on a regular basis.

Miss Lily is now 9 months old! She is so fun right now. She started crawling and pulling up at 8 months and she is in to EVERYTHING! We are having a bit of a challenge with baby food at the moment. Lily HATES all baby food and wants to feed herself thank you very much. I can't say as I blame her, baby food smells awful enough I can't imagine what it tastes like. She's not even real wild about the stuff I've pureed for her for a homemade version. She likes texture and wants to chew. We have resorted to dicing everything up very fine and she eats like a champ! So far she's had chicken, fish, bison, beef, peas, potatoes, green beans, rice, pasta, edamame and sweet potatoes off our plates and loves them all. At her check up she weighed in at 18.7 pounds and is 28.25 inches tall. She's so much smaller than Joshua but is average weight and 75% on height all around. As my pediatrician says, you can't really compare her to her brother since he was a giant and still is! I looked up my stats at that age and she is almost exactly the same size! Lily has such a fun personality developing and loves to be the center of attention. She still has diva tendencies but I'm starting to think that's just girls all around. She is far more demanding than Joshua as a baby and has definite opinions....and will voice them loudly!

We have traveled back and forth to Midland several times to see my family. We went for the 4th of July and got rained out. I actually had to buy jeans for the kids as the temperature dropped considerably! We didn't get to do our usual volleyball and cookout but we still had fun. Eric was supposed to go with us, but had to stay here when a case blew up. Poor guy spent most of the summer working like a dog and has only regained his weekends recently. That might explain the lack of posting! I usually post of Saturdays and there was a good 2 month period where we work EVERY Saturday for most of the day. Since then, we have been on the go or have had people in town. This weekend will mark our last trip with the kids for some time. We may actually get to catch our breath on the weekend...ha!

I have my first time away from Lily in October when I travel to North Carolina for a CE course. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I think Eric is more toward the dread sensation since he will be on his own from Wednesday night to Saturday afternoon! I have a feeling Grandma and Grandpa Millner will be on call! I'm also a little concerned about weaning or not weaning Lily by that point. I've had to start supplementing here and there with formula but I'm still pumping and nursing most of the time. The dates for the conference are about 6 weeks before Lily turns 1, so I may just try to cut down on my pumping and nursing and limp along for the last little bit. I have a ton of stored milk so it may work out just right. I've nursed her longer than I was able to with Joshua and now it's a goal to make it to the 1 year mark! That is unless she starts biting like her brother!

Pictures to follow soon!

6 years of marriage!

Six years ago today, I married my best friend! Time has flown by and here we are six years later with two awesome kids and too many animals! Eric and I met in the fall of 1996. He was the bass clarinet player that sat behind me in symphonic band my freshman year. He also went to church with my lab partner from Biology. We really didn't start to hang out until spring semester of 1997. We were placed in the same section of honors Biology 2 that spring and he was the only one in the class that I kind of knew. Our friendship blossomed as we became study buddies but it was never more than that since I had a long distance boyfriend at the time. We met each others families, talked daily and went out with a group on the weekends. That all changed one night right before Christmas break in 1997 (Lily's birthday is the 12th anniversary of our first date). Suddenly my best friend was my boyfriend and the rest is history! We dated through the rest of college and then dated 4 years long distance while Eric went to law school at Tech and I was in dental school in San Antonio. The first 2 years were the most difficult. We were both so busy and so poor that we only saw each other every 5-6 weeks. I think the fact that we were both swamped in professional study programs is the reason we were able to keep going. Neither one of us were slighted because we were both too busy for words! We got engaged after my second year of dental school and married two years later. God has richly blessed my life and Eric is one of the richest blessings He has given me. I praise God daily that Eric is in my life!

6 Months!(a little late)

I cannot believe that Lily is already 6 months old. She went in for her check up and all is well. She is 16.25 pounds and 26 3/4 inches long. Still little compared to Joshua but she's in the 75% on weight and 90% on height. Her list of tricks and accomplishments includes....Rolling over both ways, sitting by herself, saying dada, mama and bubba and giving big sloppy kisses. She is very handy with grasping object and getting them instantly to her mouth. She wants to get her hands on everything! Doing anything while holding her has become very interesting! She has two bottom teeth and it looks like 6 more are trying to come through. She eats rice cereal, oatmeal and has tried sweet potatoes, squash and pears. She has also started to try to army crawl/inchworm along on the floor but succeeds in going backwards for the most part. If she wants to go forward, she flips over on her back and pushes with her feet until she scoots forward to where she wants to be. Silly girl!
