Millner Menagerie: Joshua's First trip to Aggieland

This weekend we ended up making an impromptu trip to College Station and took Johsua to see A&M for the first time. The reason for the trip wasn't nearly so fun... My sweet friend, Erin, from college lost her husband on Tuesday after a 7 year battle with brain cancer. I didn't know Layne all that well, but Erin was a huge influence on my life in college and we wanted to be there for her and her two little boys. The funeral was absolutely amazing. Layne had touched so many lives and was such an awesome man of God. The service lasted for almost 2 hours with testimony after testimony given on how Layne had impacted countless people. I've never witnessed anything quite like it and it was an awesome experience. Joshua did pretty well through the service. When it went into the last half hour, Eric took him to a park next to the church to let him run off some steam.

After the reception we went over to the campus for a little bit to show Joshua around. Joshua was convinced we were there for a football game and to see the Aggie Band so I guess we'll have to go back sometime this fall to take him to his first game. The campus had a lot of construction going on. In fact the Memorial Student Center was closed and torn up entirely. It's been about 5 years since Eric and I have been back so some of the changes were astounding to us. It was windy and getting increasingly so as we walked around so we didn't get spend as much time as we would have liked. We hit a few key points and saw the rest in the car but it was a good trip over all. Lily also did well, although she paid me back by keeping me up most of the night!
